Theology and worship aside, what's the point? Maybe men just get tired of being beat up on. Let's face it, we get brow beat enough outside of church (work, wives, etc.) It gets old hearing how crappy the American Church is compared to churches in other countries, every week. "They need to start sending missionaries here next." Blah Blah Blah. Maybe I'm over sensitive to it. Don't call me overly patriotic, either. It just wears me out, though. Church leaders just need to find new motivational techniques instead of pointing out why we suck so bad. Maybe I could more easily sit through a service....
Thank you for commenting. But is that the purpose of the church to cater to men through entertainment and other venues in the hopes that we might motivate them?
Perhaps the problem is the fact that church has be presented in such a manner as we just want you to be able "to sit through a service." Where as, men as part of the church, should be in actual service.
Changing ones mentality from going to church to being the church.
I understand what you are saying, but what about those men who are "new at church". The article was asking why the average man didn't go to church. I hate to say it, but church SHOULD do something be to be appealing. Heaven knows we do enough to ensure the church ISN'T appealing.
Also, isn't edification part of discipleship? Motivation and edification can go hand in hand can they not? So then the argument is HOW to motivate them. Swinging some incense ain't gonna do it...

Well, I'm glad the high school graduate has made an appearance on our blog. Rest assured, sound clips of And Can It Be on the Wesley Organ (Yetterized) will soon be a regular feature. Remember I am just in the beginning stages with this blog. Icons will be present soon. I can't hide in the "Inner Sanctum" on the second floor and blog all day like some.
